What We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Name, email address, and phone number when booking a rental or contacting us
• Delivery and pickup addresses
• Payment information, processed securely through our payment processor (we do not store card numbers)
• Records of your communication preferences, including text messaging consent
• Any notes or preferences you include with your order

Information collected automatically:

• Basic usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and device type
• IP address and browser information for security purposes
• When you accept our agreements at checkout, we record the time, IP address, and browser details as evidence of your consent
• How you arrived at our site, such as the ad or campaign link you followed (for example, UTM tags) and the website that referred you, and your approximate city and region based on your connection

Photos:

• We may photograph rental equipment at delivery, pickup, or return to document its condition and the completion of service

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Schedule and fulfill your tote delivery and pickup
• Process payments and send receipts
• Contact you about your order by email, phone, or text, including delivery windows and return reminders
• Send occasional promotional emails if you have opted in (you can opt out anytime)
• Improve our website and service based on aggregate usage patterns, and measure which marketing campaigns lead to bookings
• Prevent fraud and resolve payment disputes
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

Analytics

We use two kinds of analytics. Our hosting provider's cookieless analytics counts aggregate page views and referral sources. We also use Mixpanel, an analytics service provider, to understand how visitors move through our site and which marketing campaigns lead to bookings. For this, our own servers send Mixpanel a random visitor ID, the pages you view and the steps you take while booking, the campaign or website that brought you to our site, your device type (mobile, tablet, or desktop), and your approximate city and region. We never send Mixpanel your name, email address, phone number, street address, payment details, or IP address. When you book, we store the same visitor ID and campaign details with your order. Mixpanel processes this data only on our behalf, under a contract that prohibits it from selling the data or using it for its own purposes. No Mixpanel code runs in your browser, and we do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Text Messaging Privacy

Mobile phone numbers and text messaging opt-in data are used only to communicate with you as described in our Terms of Service. No mobile information or text messaging consent data will be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We may share it only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Third parties we use to operate the business, such as our website hosting, analytics, payment processors, and scheduling and delivery software. These providers may process your data only to provide services to us.
• Legal compliance: If required by law or a valid legal request from a government authority.
• Business transfer: If Cruz Totes is sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you in advance.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies necessary for the site to function: session and checkout cookies, and fraud-prevention cookies set by our payment processor to keep transactions secure. We also set two first-party analytics cookies of our own, each lasting 90 days: one holds a random visitor ID, and the other holds the campaign details that brought you to our site, such as UTM tags. Neither contains your name, contact details, or payment information, and no other website can read them. We do not use advertising cookies or any third-party tracking cookies.

Do Not Track

We do not track visitors across third-party websites, so there is no cross-site tracking for a "Do Not Track" browser signal to disable. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of analytics: we set no analytics cookies and send no analytics data about your visit.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill your rental, resolve any disputes, and comply with legal obligations. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@cruztotes.com. When we honor a deletion request, we delete or anonymize your personal identifiers, but we retain transaction, payment, and agreement acceptance records as required for legal, tax, and dispute resolution purposes.

Your California Privacy Rights

California residents have the following rights regarding their personal information:

• Right to know: Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties we share it with
• Right to delete: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
• Right to correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing: We do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law, so there is nothing to opt out of, though the right exists regardless
• Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights

We will verify your request using the information associated with your order, such as your email address, and respond within the timeframe required by law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and secure payment processing. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised date and notify you by email if the changes are material.
